What Support Do Foster Parents Receive?

It’s natural to have questions when fostering.

Who do I ask? What do I do if this happens? What about financial assistance? How do I know what to do in this situation? Is this covered? Are there resources for this?

You don’t have to figure it out alone.

At Impact Living Services, we believe in a relationship-oriented approach that encourages meaningful connections and strong communities for our youth and families. We strive to foster a culture of cooperation and collaboration with our foster parents, youth in care, and community partners to ensure every family has the resources and support they need to succeed.

Many of our foster parents often say that the agency feels like an extended family. They highlight that caseworkers consistently check in, know the children in their care, and truly know them as individuals. Impact caseworkers are not just completing tasks—they genuinely care. With Impact, foster parents feel supported, seen, and valued every step of the way.

When you choose to foster with Impact, you receive exceptional support through our conscientious and caring staff, including access to trauma-informed parent training and education, a monthly tax-free financial stipend, clothing allowances, medical and dental services, respite care, community resources, and 24/7 emergency assistance to meet each child’s unique needs.

Support You Can Count On

The Team

Foster parents are not meant to walk this journey alone. Instead, you are part of a caring team that supports both you and the child in your home. This team includes caseworkers and community agencies who work together to help families succeed. With Impact, you will have access to foster care specialists, supervisors, and case managers who are here to guide and aid you every step of the way. Your caseworker provides consistent, ongoing assistance to ensure that both you and the child feel supported. When questions arise, your caseworker is committed to helping you find the answers.

Training and Education

Ongoing training is provided to help you build the skills needed for an individualized approach. You will receive focused instruction to better understand child development, manage behaviors, and support children who have experienced trauma.

Financial Stipends

Foster parents receive a monthly stipend to assist with expenses such as groceries, school supplies, personal care items, and transportation.

Each child also receives a separate, annual clothing allowance. Some children require additional financial support. Rates for this more intensive care will vary by child.

Medical, Dental, Vision, Therapeutic Care

All youth in foster care have their medical, dental, vision, and mental health services covered through Medicaid. At Impact, you have access to therapists and supportive services. Caseworkers partner with families to link children to appropriate mental health professionals when needed.

Respite Care

Sometimes foster parents need a break, and that’s okay. When this occurs, temporary short-term relief, known as respite care, is available to give you time to rest and recharge while ensuring the child’s continued safety and well-being.

Community Resources

Connecting families with the supports they need is part of Impact’s culture of cooperation and collaboration. Some of these supports include access to WIC, free school meals, local support groups, and other community partners who are ready to invest their resources, time, and energy into helping children remain in safe and loving families.

Emergency Care

Impact serves their parents with 24/7 on-call availability for urgent issues, offering immediate support and crisis de-escalation.

Partnering with Impact

Choosing to become a foster parent is a meaningful step toward strengthening positive outcomes for children in foster care. While the journey may include questions and challenges, it is also filled with moments of hope, healing, and growth.

When you partner with Impact, you are never alone. You become part of a supportive team and a caring community that is committed to walking alongside you as you provide safety, stability, and love to youth who need it most.
