Why Foster Care Matters

Children enter foster care during some of the most difficult moments of their lives, often because their families are experiencing crisis or instability. During this time, foster families and professionals provide safety, consistency, and support while teams work together to create longer-term plans.

Across Virginia, thousands of children and teens enter foster care each year and rely on foster families to provide stability, structure, and care during seasons of transition. Because of this, foster parents play a critical role in helping children heal, rebuild trust, and experience healthy relationships — sometimes for a short period, and sometimes longer.

At Impact Living Services, fostering is a true partnership. That means foster parents are supported, informed, and never expected to navigate this work alone.
