Support for Foster Parents

At Impact Living Services, we support foster parents every step of the way. Because we believe that informed, prepared, and supported families create greater stability for children, we intentionally build strong systems of care around each home.

From the very beginning, support starts before a child enters your home and continues throughout the entire fostering journey. Along the way, our team works closely with foster parents to offer guidance, encouragement, and practical assistance whenever they need it.

Training & Preparation

All foster parents complete required pre-service training and receive ongoing education focused on trauma-informed care. Pre-service training is paced by each family. This allows foster parents to move through the material in a way that fits their schedule, learning style, and readiness.

Training is designed to be practical, flexible, and relevant to real-life situations—helping foster parents understand child behavior, build trust, and respond with confidence. Learning continues beyond licensure, with ongoing opportunities to strengthen skills and grow over time.

On-going Support

Foster parents and youth are supported by a dedicated caseworker who provides on-going, one-on-one time with both the foster family and the child. The frequency and focus of this support looks different for each child and family, based on individual needs, placement goals, and treatment plans.

These one-on-one hours are intentionally designed to:

  • Support the child’s emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs
  • Provide foster parents with guidance, problem-solving, and skill-building
  • Align daily care with treatment goals and permanency planning

This individualized approach ensures support is responsive, meaningful, and centered on the success of both the child and the foster family.

Ongoing & Team-Based Care

Foster parents are never expected to navigate fostering alone. Impact Living Services provides:

  • 24/7 on-call support for questions or urgent concerns
  • Ongoing case management and clinical services
  • Guidance with school coordination, medical care, and service planning
  • Advocacy and collaboration with local departments of social services and community providers

Our approach is collaborative and relationship-driven, ensuring foster parents have consistent points of contact and a team invested in their success.

Financial & Practical

Foster parents receive a monthly stipend to help cover a child’s daily needs, including food, clothing, and personal items. In addition, children in foster care receive health insurance coverage, which gives them access to medical care, mental health services, and therapeutic support when they need it.

To further support families, our team helps foster parents understand available resources and navigate complex systems, so that they can stay focused on providing consistent care and stability at home.

Support That Grows With You

Every foster family’s experience looks different, so we intentionally tailor our support to meet each family’s specific needs. Whether you welcome a child for a short-term placement or provide longer-term care, our team stays actively involved, responsive, and consistently available.

Beyond guiding you through the process, we walk alongside you in the day-to-day realities of fostering. Because when we provide consistent, individualized support, foster parents feel more confident — and children experience greater stability.

Support Makes the Difference

Foster parents often tell us that strong, consistent support is what allows them to keep going—even during challenging moments.

Our approach focuses on relationship, responsiveness, and meeting each child and family where they are. Support is not one-size-fits-all, and it evolves as needs change.

“We never felt like we were doing this alone.”
